Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma offers Early Childhood Reporting Fellowship [South America]

January 21, 2022

South American journalists can apply for this reporting fellowship.

The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a project from the Columbia Journalism School in Nova York, is launching its Early Childhood Reporting Fellowship. The program will select 20 reporting projects from South American journalists to shed light on the effects of inequality on development in early childhood, both those induced by the pandemic and those beyond COVID-19.

Priority will be given to reporting projects on children up to five-years-old. As for projects submitted by Brazilian candidates, proposals related to the 2022 elections will be given special consideration.

The program will run from April to October 2022. Activities will be carried out in Portuguese and translated to Spanish.

Each fellow will receive US$1,500 to support their project, along with mentorship and access to webinars with science, education, public health and journalism experts.

The application deadline is Feb. 22.
