Professional journalists are invited to submit their story ideas to this contest.
Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) is organizing the Isu Elihle (Great Idea) Awards.
The contest aims to encourage fresh reporting, innovative angles, insightful investigations and those that seek to give children a voice and elevate the status of children in Africa.
The competition has two stages: submission of story idea and producing and publishing the full story. The authors of the top six ideas will be given financial support to research and develop their concepts into publishable materials.
Three winners will receive cash prizes: ZAR25,000 for the overall winner; ZAR15,000, second place; and ZAR10,000, third place.
Entries and story ideas should be in English.
The deadline is April 30.
