African writers residing in Africa or elsewhere can submit entries for an award.
The AKO Caine Prize for African Writing, a short story award competition, is accepting submissions. The prize encourages and highlights the richness and diversity of African writing.
Short stories published after Jan. 31, 2017 are eligible for submission. The stories must be published in English.
Short stories must be submitted by a publisher – including publishers of physical and digital literary journals or magazines. Self-published and unpublished works are not eligible.
The winner is awarded a cash prize of GBP10,000 and the other four shortlisted writers will receive GBP500 each.
The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31.
